Boonton Township, NJ, July 13 – The Rockaway Valley United Methodist Church will be conducting a MISSION WALK on September 19, 2015, beginning at the church at 10AM. Registration is 9:30AM. All are welcome.
The starting and ending point will be the Parish House at 38 Valley Road, Boonton Township, NJ 07005. The walkers, who are encouraged to seek sponsors for their walk, will proceed along country roads in this beautiful and scenic area, and should conclude the walk in about one hour. Light refreshments will be served and a brief ceremony will occur after the completion of the walk.
The Mission Walk is intended to embrace the Christian ministry the church has conducted for almost two hundred years. Funds raised from this event will be used to continue its outreach to the community, and to fund much-needed repairs to the church building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Market Street Mission in Morristown.
“Since 1785, this congregation has been serving Christ by serving our community,” said Dawn Maffetone, Pastor of the Rockaway Valley United Methodist Church. “We provide a meeting place for the Boy Scouts, a karate school, and the Christian Drama School. Last year we gave 400 pounds of food to the Interfaith Food Pantry. We invite people of all faiths to join our Walk, support the Market Street Mission, and restore our historic church.”
